The Girl

नायक की girlfriend gentle, intelligent, witty और understanding लड़की है। वह modern educated girl के एक नए रूप का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है। वह narrator को अच्छी तरह समझती है और उसके strengths तथा weaknesses दोनों को पहचानती है।

उसका प्रेम sincere है। वह narrator के साथ लंबे समय तक relationship में रहती है और उसके career तथा ambitions को समझती है। इसके बावजूद narrator उसके प्रति पूरी तरह honest नहीं रहता। 2

The Eight-Year Relationship

नarrator और उसकी girlfriend के बीच लगभग आठ वर्षों तक प्रेम संबंध रहता है। इतने लंबे समय में दोनों एक-दूसरे को बहुत अच्छी तरह समझने लगते हैं। लड़की narrator की personality को गहराई से जानती है और उसके emotional side को भी समझती है।
