Letter Writing – Introduction
Letter Writing BSEB Class 10 English Writing Skills का एक महत्वपूर्ण भाग है। परीक्षा में विद्यार्थियों से किसी दिए गए विषय पर लगभग 100 शब्दों में letter लिखने के लिए कहा जा सकता है। अच्छे अंक प्राप्त करने के लिए letter का सही format, language, sequence और subject matter समझना आवश्यक है।
Letter Writing को मुख्य रूप से दो प्रकारों में समझा जा सकता है—Informal Letter और Formal Letter। Informal letter सामान्यतः friends, parents, brothers, sisters या relatives को लिखा जाता है, जबकि formal letter किसी Headmaster, Principal, अधिकारी या संस्था को लिखा जाता है।
What is Letter Writing?
Letter किसी व्यक्ति या संस्था तक अपनी बात, सूचना, भावना, अनुरोध या विचार पहुँचाने का लिखित माध्यम है। एक अच्छे letter में बात स्पष्ट, संक्षिप्त और क्रमबद्ध तरीके से लिखी जाती है।
Class 10 English examination में letter writing के questions में invitation, congratulations, advice, description, request, permission और application जैसे विषय पूछे जा सकते हैं।
Types of Letters
Class 10 के स्तर पर letter writing को मुख्यतः दो categories में समझा जा सकता है:
- Informal Letter – मित्र, भाई, बहन, माता-पिता या अन्य परिचितों को लिखा जाने वाला पत्र।
- Formal Letter/Application – Headmaster, Principal, अधिकारी या किसी संस्था को लिखा जाने वाला पत्र।
Informal Letter
Informal letter में भाषा personal और friendly होती है। इसमें हम अपने मित्र या परिवार के सदस्य को किसी घटना, अनुभव, समस्या, सफलता या योजना के बारे में लिख सकते हैं।
इस प्रकार के letter में बहुत अधिक formal language की आवश्यकता नहीं होती। लेकिन भाषा सरल, स्पष्ट और grammatically correct होनी चाहिए।
Format of an Informal Letter
Informal letter लिखते समय सामान्यतः निम्न क्रम का पालन किया जाता है:
- Sender’s Address
- Date
- Salutation
- Opening sentence
- Main body of the letter
- Closing sentence
- Subscription
- Name
Basic Format
Sender's Address Date Dear/ My dear ______, Opening sentence. Main body of the letter. Closing sentence. Yours sincerely/ Yours affectionately, Name
Sender’s Address
Letter के प्रारंभ में sender का address लिखा जाता है। यह सामान्यतः page के upper-left side पर लिखा जाता है। Address को बहुत लंबा लिखने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती।

Date
Address के नीचे date लिखी जाती है। Date को स्पष्ट रूप से लिखना चाहिए। उदाहरण:

परीक्षा में date का format एक समान रखना चाहिए और unnecessary punctuation से बचना चाहिए।
Salutation
मित्र को letter लिखते समय Dear Ravi, My dear friend आदि का प्रयोग किया जा सकता है। भाई या बहन के लिए Dear Brother, My dear Sister जैसे expressions उपयोग किए जा सकते हैं।
Body of an Informal Letter
Letter का body सबसे महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा होता है। इसमें question में दिए गए विषय की पूरी जानकारी दी जाती है। Body को सामान्यतः दो या तीन छोटे paragraphs में लिखा जा सकता है।
पहले paragraph में letter लिखने का उद्देश्य बताया जा सकता है। दूसरे paragraph में मुख्य information दी जाती है और अंतिम paragraph में शुभकामना, invitation या अपेक्षा व्यक्त की जा सकती है।
Closing of an Informal Letter
Letter के अंत में relationship के अनुसार closing expression लिखा जाता है। उदाहरण:

- Yours lovingly

Formal Letter
Formal letter किसी अधिकारी, संस्था या school authority को लिखा जाता है। इसमें language polite, respectful और formal होनी चाहिए। Personal expressions और informal language का अनावश्यक प्रयोग नहीं करना चाहिए।
Class 10 में formal letter के अंतर्गत school application, leave application, fee concession, book bank, permission और public authority से संबंधित requests महत्वपूर्ण हो सकती हैं।

Subject in a Formal Letter
Formal letter में Subject बहुत महत्वपूर्ण होता है। Subject में पूरे letter का उद्देश्य एक छोटी और स्पष्ट line में लिखा जाता है।

Salutation in a Formal Letter
किसी authority को letter लिखते समय सामान्यतः Sir या Madam का प्रयोग किया जाता है। यदि recipient का gender ज्ञात न हो तो Sir/Madam लिखा जा सकता है।
Body of a Formal Letter
Formal letter की body में समस्या, कारण, request और आवश्यक details स्पष्ट रूप से दी जानी चाहिए। भाषा polite होनी चाहिए।
उदाहरण के लिए यदि Headmaster को leave application लिखनी है, तो letter में leave का कारण, कितने दिनों की छुट्टी चाहिए और किस तारीख से चाहिए—ये बातें स्पष्ट होनी चाहिए।
